ASTER X jewelry is made to premium industry standards.   
 
Our jewelry is all at least one micron plated in 18k or 14K gold with an anti-tarnish finish on 925 sterling silver base, with the exception of the Manhattan collection, which uses brass as a base metal, with the same highest standard gold plating. 
Our rings get an extra thick, 1.5 micron gold plating, as they tend to get more wear and tear, than other types of jewelry.
 
Our jewelry is made to last, but pieces that are handled or stored without care are more likely to show wear and damage over time. To reduce the effect of wear, gently wipe your jewelry with the polishing cloth provided with your purchase and store in a dry place. Protect jewelry from abrasive surfaces and harsh chemicals as these may scratch and damage the plating and the protective anti-tarnish finish.  Please be mindful of wearing makeup and skincare near jewelry or of getting your plated metal piece wet. Please use common sense and follow the tips below when wearing and storing your ASTER X piece, and it will be your trusted accessory for a long time!

CLEANING

  • After each wear, lightly wipe your jewelry with the soft polishing cloth provided with your purchase, to remove any unwanted chemicals on the surface of your jewelry piece. Gently polish your items to bring back a shine and remove any tarnish.  
  • If you are using a specialized jewelry cloth, different from the one included with your order, please take care not to over polish plated objects, as you may remove some of the plating. Be sure to wash your hands afterwards, as such cloths may contain chemicals to enhance the cleaning process. 
  • It is essential that you clean your jewelry and avoid chemicals, as tarnishing will not be covered by our warranty. 

WHAT TO AVOID

  • For gold plated metals, some tarnishing over time with wear is natural and to be expected. Plated metals will react with chemicals in your sweat, skincare, make up, water etc., which may all cause jewelry to tarnish. However, cleaning and storing your jewelry correctly will help minimize and delay this. 
  • Avoid getting your jewelry in contact with water. Do not wear it in the shower or while swimming in the ocean or pool. 
  • Limit its contact with perfumes and skincare. Apply your cosmetics, moisturizers and hair products before adding your jewelry with clean hands. 
  • Do not spray perfume directly onto or around your jewelry.
  • Avoid knocking your jewelry against any hard surfaces, such as table tops, as well as other items of jewelry. This will protect against scratching and chipping.
  • Pack your jewelry with care; avoid throwing it in the bottom of your bag.
  • Please note that all metals oxidize naturally with time and may require maintenance.

STORAGE

  • To keep your ASTER X piece in tip-top condition, we suggest storing it in the pouch and box provided with your shipment; this will help protect it from moisture and reduce the likelihood of tarnishing. Moisture and humidity can cause oxidization and tarnishing, so please avoid storing your jewelry in humid places such as your bathroom and keep your jewelry away from all sources of heat.  
  • Please do not leave your jewelry sitting on the window sill, in direct light or in your car, to prevent tarnishing and damage from oxidizing.
